Building movie sets has become quite a fascinating point in my life. I never thought that I would get paid to come to Tampa FL and be put up in my own MacDill AFB furnished housing from Avenida Suites all so that I can do exactly what I love!
Growing up, I was always the kid who was building forts and tree houses and digging tunnels through the snow to create igloos and caves. I loved to be able to craft my surroundings into whatever fantastic fantasy struck me as interesting at the time.
Whenever I would watch movies, I would always take note of the set for which the characters were living. I was always excited to see how the environment would change and evolve based on a character in any given world or alternative timeline.
I especially liked the high fantasy genre and being able to explore the overlaps between medieval architecture and surrealism. As I got older, this fascination grew into a job opportunity.
Because I knew so much about movie sets and building my own forts and fantasy sets, I was approached by a set designer to work on a couple of small projects.
Of course, like most people in the industry, these small gigs eventually grew and grew until I now find myself working on some pretty large-scale movie sets. Being able to have this experience under my belt with my smaller sets has enabled me to feel even more confident and well prepared for the real deal.
Even though I absolutely love what I do day in and day out, it can still be incredibly tiring at the end of the day. I always like to be able to kick my feet up and rest my hands after a long day at work.
This is why I am so thankful to Avenida Suites, and I am so glad to have my MacDill AFB furnished housing. Having these amenities in Tampa FL has enabled me to feel the best that I can as I continue my work on the movie set.
For many of the smaller projects that I worked on in the past, I was put up in a traditional hotel. Even though this wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, I did realize that my work could suffer minor setbacks due to fatigue because my hotel rooms weren’t necessarily the most comfortable or quiet.
